Arathorn II Print this article

Man, Dúnedain, fifteenth Chieftain of the Dunedain (T.A. 2873 – 2933)
Son of Arador, husband of Gilraen and fatherof Aragorn II.

Arathorn married Gilraen against the wishes of her father, Dírhael, who said that his daughter was not yet old enough according to Dúnedain custom to marry. He also fordained that Arathorn would be short lived. A year after Arathorn and Gilraen were married, Arador was slain and Arathorn became the Chieftan of the Dúnedain. A year later Aragorn was born, but he did not get to know his father long. Arathorn was slain by an orc arrow in the eye when Aragorn was only two years old. Arathorn was only 60 years old, still quite young for one of his lineage.
